Sagging Breasts
What is Sagging Breasts in menopause?
During perimenopause and menopause, your nipples may downturn, stretch marks might appear, and your breasts grow further apart than before. This is a common side-effect that many women experience.
Why does Sagging Breasts happen in menopause?
Our oestrogen levels drop right before we go from perimenopause into the menopause, causing our reproductive systems, including our ability to produce milk, to start shutting down. This means the glandular tissue in our breasts shrinks, and combined with depleting collagen production due to the aging process, can cause your breasts to sag.
How can Sagging Breasts in menopause be managed?
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make your breasts look like how they were before menopause. To boost self-esteem, you should be kind to yourself, treat yourself to new underwear or workout your chest. Smoking can add to the sagging, as well as making other menopause symptoms worse. Slow, steady weight loss is a healthy choice but won't make a rapid difference. If you're still unhappy, plastic surgery is always an option.
