Dee Jones
Fitness and Dance were not my first choice of career. Originally I wanted to follow my Dad’s footsteps and become an actress. Hence I attended Theatre school for 2 years after I left school. Getting jobs was pretty hard and having bills to pay decided to train as a secretary and work as a temp to enable me to attend auditions. I started keeping fit by going to the gym every lunchtime and became hooked on the classes. I loved step, aerobics, dance and being able to express myself in an environment I felt truly comfortable. That was when I decided to retrain and become a Group Fitness instructor. After all it meant I could still be on my own stage and teach freestyle classes which is truly my passion.
Having passed my ETM (Exercise to Music), I immediately stopped work in the office and set up my own classes in the community. I carried on learning and training to make me as versatile as possible. Over the last 30+ years I have worked in gyms up and down the country, presented in the UK and abroad, worked within the media and am also a successful personal trainer. I worked as a Studio Coordinator looking after well over 100 classes per week and all the instructors.
My fitness experience is as follows: Step, Aerobics (including all over body conditioning and core workouts), freestyle boxing, Circuits/Bootcamp, Weight Lifting (also kettlebells, medicine ball), Pilates (which I blend with other disciplines), Yoga, Swiss Ball, Pole Dance, Teen Dance (including urban funk), Body Pump, Spin, Ante and Post Natal and Piloxing. I am also a certified Science of Stretching teacher.
